Aisin AW Co. Ltd

Aisin AW was established at exactly the same time as STS, namely 1969, and is today the world’s largest manufacturer of automatic transmissions. In addition to automatic transmissions, the company develops and manufactures hybrid systems, electric vehicle drive systems and navigation equipment for the automotive industry. The first transmission, which was 3-gear and designed for rear wheel drive vehicles, was launched in 1972. Developments have continued and in 2006 Aisin AW introduced the world’s first 8-gear RWD transmission. In 2008 the company had 16,750 employees worldwide and a turnover of just over 950 billion yen.
