An automatic transmission is a complicated part of a car’s driving system and developments are moving towards more and more complex systems that integrate engine and transmission. This demands highly skilled employees and a great deal of quality awareness as well as high standards of cleanliness. In order to restore characteristics such as comfortable driving and a long life, we use only original parts. Thus, when leaving your car at your local workshop, you should ensure that we will be responsible for servicing your transmission.
When transmissions arrive at our premises they often appear to be beyond repair to the untrained eye. As Aisin AW components are of high quality, on taking the transmission apart, cleaning and testing the parts carefully, we usually find that most parts can be reused. We replace any worn or defective parts in accordance with the original specifications from the factory in Japan. This also applies to older transmissions that have 15 years of service behind them. Delicate parts, for example gaskets, are always replaced in order to ensure quality. We never take chances!
In our plant, the reassembly of transmissions follows a fixed pattern. The work comprises a combination of skilled craftsmanship and a standardised process. Craftsmanship is involved in, for example, being able to assess the quality of the used parts. Standardisation is important for ensuring that nothing is overlooked or that none of the many parts are incorrectly assembled. As mentioned already, we also place high demands on cleanliness, as dirt can cause major damage to a transmission at a later stage, affecting its life cycle.
Before the transmission is delivered to the customer it is carefully tested. The test bench can identify any faults or deviations from the manufacturer’s specifications. This ensures that the end customer will not be faced with tedious problems. It goes without saying that there is a guarantee on every remanufactured transmission that leaves our premises.
When an automatic transmission has passed through our production process, it is almost impossible to distinguish it from a brand new one. We are proud of the high quality of our work, which is the result of a long tradition of uncompromising quality awareness. Finally, the transmissions are packed, using manufacturer’s packaging, and sent all over Europe to be assembled in passenger cars.
